Since 1996, Charlie Brown restaurant has been a landmark in Milan for pizza and Apulian cuisine, under the leadership of entrepreneur Antonio Moscara (Riad Yacout, Milan and Casa Noscia, Gallipoli). In 2010, with designer Fabio Novembre, the restaurant was transformed into Terra d’Otranto, inspired by a Salento olive oil mill and enriched with seafood dishes.

In 2024, Moscara renovated the restaurant again, entrusting it to Naos Design: the setting became an Apulian masseria, with pergolas and decorated star vaults. In this new look, the restaurant changes its name to “Il Pugliese”, marking a return to its origins and even more authentic cuisine.

Antonio Moscara

Originally from Taurisano (Salento), he moved to Milan in 1981. After running Trattoria Previati, an elegant fish restaurant, in 1987, he took over Charlie Brown, a pizza restaurant on Via Spartaco, in 1996. In 2004 he opened Riad Yacout, a place inspired by Moroccan riads with Maghrebi cuisine and musical performances. In 2018 he returned to Puglia and opened Osteria Casa Noscia in Gallipoli Vecchia, dedicated to local cuisine. Moscara is a restaurateur who has brought his love for his land to Milan, combining good food and entertainment.

Amidst walls of Lecce stone, handcrafted ceramics and a fireplace reminiscent of old country houses, our restaurant offers a warm and convivial atmosphere. The two indoor rooms and the large glassed-in dehors welcome guests with a rich buffet on view: typical specialties such as Parmigiana, Sunday Lasagna, freshly fried Pittule, cold cuts, cheeses and Altamura bread.

All of this is accompanied by traditional music – pizzica and taranta – and a homely ambience with checked tablecloths, thick glassware and wooden furnishings.

Dominating the scene is the Braceria della Pizzica Salentina: an open grill and choice meats, from artisanal Bombette to Fiorentine steaks, via Salsicce con rape ‘nfocate and Mixed grills. A genuine gastronomic experience, to be lived and shared.
